WATCH: Fans erupt into cheers as MacKenzie Hughes pulls off impressive hole out from bunker

Although Team USA took most of the points during the third day of the Presidents Cup, Mackenzie Hughes of the International team gave the local fans a moment to cheer for. During the Saturday foursomes, he made an impressive hole-out from the bunker, resulting in a huge roar from the fans.

On Friday, September 28, Mackenzie Hughes and other International stars entered the Royal Montreal Golf Club tied 5-5 with Team USA. However, the visitors won both the fourball and foursomes sessions 3-1 each to take a six-point lead over the hosts.

Hughes was paired with his fellow countryman Corey Conners against Collin Morikawa and Sam Burns in the penultimate foursomes of the day. The match was quite close, with the Canadian pair leading in the first few holes before the USA made a recovery to seal the match on their side.

After 11 holes, the USA duo was 1-up against the International pair. On the par-5 12th, Hughes aimed for the hole from the bunker, and it sank in after a few bounces. The crowd at the Royal Montreal Golf Club erupted after witnessing the incredible eagle by their local star. Here's the clip:

The Canadian duo did their best to tie the match until the eighteenth hole. However, Conners missed the par putt on the final hole, resulting in Team USA's victory.

"Just didn't quite have it today." - Mackenzie Hughes reflects on the performance in the Presidents Cup, Day 3

During the post-round interview, Mackenzie Hughes reflected on his performance. Though disappointed with his overall play, he said the shot on the 12th would stay with him for a long time.

"Yeah, it stinks, "he said "I mean, I had a little chip there, and that's going to sit with me for a while.
"Just didn't quite have it today. I didn't play that great in the morning, and they trusted us to come back out in the evening or this afternoon and put a point on the board. We did a lot of good things but fell short, so it kind of stinks," he added.

Hughes has played three matches so far this week and has won just one. For the singles, he will be up against Max Homa. The singles matches will start on Sunday, September 29 at 12:02 pm ET.
