Jackson native Wilson Furr played at the Sanderson Farms Championship at the Country Club of Jackson this week. During the second round, the golfer needed a birdie on hole 18 to make it through the Friday cutline, but it ended in a bogey. Following that, he lost his cool and slammed the club on the ground.
A video of the incident was shared by the PGA Tour’s X page on October 5. The video showed that Furr took a shot that ended up in a bunker. Then, he took a rescue shot from the bunker that ended up near the hole. Next, he slammed his club near the bunker. The post carried a caption:
"Friday night drama. Jackson native Wilson Furr (#FedExCup No. 183) needed a birdie on 18 to make the cut on the number."
The cutline of the Sanderson Farms Championship was 6-under and Furr’s score was 4-under after the two rounds. As a result of which, the golfer couldn't make it to the weekends.
Wilson Furr scored 70 in the first round of the Country Club event by shooting a birdie on the front nine and two birdies on the back nine. Following that, he had another 70 in the second round, with one birdie on the front nine and two on the back nine.

Wilson Furr failed to make the cut in 13 PGA Tour events in 2024 including the Farmers Insurance Open in January, where he finished with 1-over 145. Next, he failed to make it to the weekends in two PGA Tour events in March, which were the Puerto Rico Open and the Valspar Championship.
Following that, he couldn't qualify for the Saturday round of the Valero Texas Open in April as his score was 2-over 146. He had failed to make the cutlines in four events from May to June. It includes the CJ CUP ( 4-under 138), Myrtle Beach Classic 1-over 143), RBC Canadian Open ( 4-over 144) and Rocket Mortgage Classic (1-over 145).
Next, he played in the John Deere Classic, where he finished at T72. But, he again had four back-to-back missed cutlines from July to August. His last missed cutline was at the Sanderson Farms Championship (4 under 140).
His best performance of the season was at the Procore Championship in September, where he secured a T13. His total score was 9-under-279 at the Silverado Resort ( North Course).
