WATCH: John Daly, others take part in unique honorary tradition at the Ascension Charity Classic
John Daly and other senior professionals recently participated in a unique honorary tradition at the Ascension Charity Classic. The tradition was held to honor the U.S. Coast Guard.
Daly and other senior pros are competing in the Ascension Charity Classic, which began on Friday, September 6, at Norwood Hills Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri.
On Friday, during the first round of the tournament, a special tradition took place on the 13th hole to honor first responders.
The Go Coast Guard St. Louis' Instagram page also shared several photos of the event. A few of the coastguards also got to click photographs with Daly.
John Daly makes a steady start as Y.E. Yang takes the lead at the Ascension Charity Classic
John Daly carded a 3-under 68 to finish T11 after the first round of the Ascension Charity Classic. He picked up four birdies after making a bogey on the 16th hole, his seventh of the day.
John Daly is three strokes behind Y.E. Yang, who picked up eight birdies on Day 1 to take a one-shot lead. Yang began with five birdies on the front nine and added three more on the back nine. However, he also bogeyed two holes to finish the day at 6-under 65.
Boo Weekley, Ricardo Gonzalez, Kevin Sutherland, Ángel Cabrera, and Tim O'Neal are in a five-way tie for second at 5-under. Justin Leonard, Ken Tanigawa, Steve Allan, and Stewart Cink are two strokes back.
