WATCH: Jon Rahm breaks down during LIV Golf UK winning celebrations, says it’s been a difficult year for his wife

Following his first LIV Golf win, Jon Rahm couldn't hide his emotions and broke down in tears. He said it was an emotional win as it hadn't been the best year for his wife, Kelly.

On Sunday, July 28, Jon Rahm fired a 4-under 67 in the final round of the LIV Golf UK, with the help of five birdies and a bogey. He finished at 13-under to beat Joaquin Niemann and Cameron Smith by one stroke, securing his maiden win on the Saudi-backed circuit. This was also his first professional win since the Masters in 2023.

LIV Golf shared a clip on X where the Spaniard broke into tears after winning at the JCB Golf and Country Club. He shared the emotional moment with his caddie, Adam Hayes, while teammate Kieran Vincent also gave him a tight hug.

Speaking at the post-round interview, Jon Rahm detailed how much the LIV Golf UK win meant to him and his family.

"It's just emotional," he said. "It hasn't been the easiest year for our family. Kelley and I have gone through quite a bit, and she has gone through even more, being on bedrest among many other things.
"To get this one done -- she did tell me, our son Kepa said to bring a trophy home in this stretch of golf, and I started to believe it was going to happen at one point today. Maybe not in the last 20 minutes. But at least I can look at them and say I'm bringing one home for them," he continued.

Expressing relief at ending his winning drought, Jon Rahm said that no one wanted this feeling to last this long, and it was incredible to finally get over the line.

"It's been a fantastic week and a fantastic year, and just relieved that it happened," he added.

It was a double celebration for Rahm, as his team, Legion XIII, also won the team portion. Although this was their fourth win this season, they still sit behind Crushers GC in the season standings.

Rahm sits at second in the season standings with 165 points. He has registered in the top ten finishes in all of his ten starts so far. Joaquin Niemann, who finished runner-up at Rocester, tops the standings with 189 points.
