WATCH: Large crowd follows Charlie Woods at US Junior Amateur, 15-yo misses cut

Charlie Woods has missed the cut line at the US Junior Amateur a week after Tiger Woods missed the cut at The Open Championship. Charlie shot 10-over 80 on Tuesday and missed the cut with 22-over after two rounds.

His performance was subpar throughout the week but that didn't refrain the audience from gathering around him at Oakland Hills Country Club's North course in Michigan.

Dave Shedloski of Golf.com shared a picture of the event on X where a huge crowd can be seen gathered around Charlie on his first tee. The post is captioned:

“Huge crowd on first tee at Oakland Hills North Course for start of US Junior all to watch a certain Jupiter, Fla., kid whose dad just played in the Open at Troon. Good luck to Charlie Woods.”

Another post by TW Legion on X shows people gathering to watch Charlie play. It is captioned:

“Galleries have assembled in Michigan to watch the great Charlie Woods. Charlie is having a tough go at T243 thus far with 9 holes to play.”

Blades Brown currently sits atop the leaderboard with 6-under. Other top three names are Tyler Watts, Mack Edwards, Joshua Bai, Chase Kyes and Lev Grinberg.

How did Charlie Woods' father Tiger Woods play at The Open Championship?

The projected cutline of The Open Championship was +6 and Tiger Woods' score was +14 after the second round.

In the opening round, Woods shot only two birdies on holes 3 and 13. He made six bogeys and two double bogeys on holes 5 and 11. In the next round, he managed just a single birdie while navigating through the challenging weather at Royal Troon Golf Course in Scotland. He also made five bogeys and a double bogey.

Woods had missed the cutline at the US Open as well. He shot 74 and 73 through the two days and had to head back home early from the third Major of the year. He'd had the same fate at the PGA Championship where he shot 72 and 77 over the two days. Earlier, at the Masters Tournament, Woods had landed at T60 with 73-72-82-77 over the four days. The Masters Tournament is thus only Major where Woods got through the cutline this year.

Apart from the Majors, Woods has only played at the Genesis Invitational which he hosted this year. He withdrew in the second round there due to flu-like symptoms.
