WATCH: Max Homa's wholesome celebration with his son after the Dodgers won the World Series
Max Homa, a proud Los Angeles Dodgers fan, got the chance to celebrate last night when his team earned their eighth franchise championship. Homa had been in Japan for the first couple of games of the series, and he was with his son when the final out was recorded.
Homa could hardly stand still. He let out a cry of joy and picked up his son, Cam, before running around and celebrating the victory. He was giddy, telling his young son they won on his birthday.
The Dodgers won in five games over the New York Yankees. They jumped out to the nearly insurmountable three-game lead before momentum began to shift. The Yankees took Game 4 and jumped out to a five-run lead in the fifth before the Dodgers even had a hit.
But defensive miscues provided an opening, and the Dodgers tied the score and went on to win. It was the biggest comeback in a clinching World Series game in MLB history, and it was one Max Homa was gleefully celebrating afterward.
Homa had said watching the Dodgers while in Japan for the Zozo Championship was fun. The Dodgers have the two most prominent Japanese players, Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and it was an experience for Homa. This time, he got to watch at home with his family and celebrate the win.
Max Homa called watching the World Series in Japan a "dream"
Max Homa didn't win the Zozo Championship but enjoyed his time in Japan. The World Series was on, with his favorite team playing. The Los Angeles Dodgers have a huge presence in Japan, making for a fun experience for Homa.
Via Golfweek, Homa said of his experience:
“Obviously we have two Japanese players on the Dodgers that are tremendous, one of which is Ohtani, who is the best baseball player I’ve ever seen. So it’s quite cool to come here. I’ve actually seen quite a few L.A. hats. It’s quite neat to be in Japan when the best baseball player in the world is Japanese and he’s on the team I root for. It’s kind of a dream scenario.”
Collin Morikawa, who is from the LA area and on the Los Angeles team for TGL, echoed that sentiment:
“It’s been great watching the Dodgers play in Japan, in Tokyo. It was nice because they had it on TV. You wake up in the morning and it’s on. They’ll probably be playing I’m guessing when we’re out on the golf course, but we’ll be taking a peek here and there for sure.”
The tournament had concluded long before the World Series, so both golfers did not stay in Japan for the final games.
