WATCH: Mike Weir’s adorable gesture on wife Michelle’s birthday catches Presidents Cup & PGA Tour’s attention
After playing in several editions of the Presidents Cup, Mike Weir is currently captaining the International Team in the 2024 edition of the tournament. Under Weir's captaincy, the International Team registered their second-ever clean sweep yesterday against Team USA in Round 2.
Ahead of Round 3 on Saturday, Weir was seen sharing an adorable moment with his wife, Michelle Money. In a video shared on the official X handle of the Presidents Cup, Weir sang Happy Birthday to his wife, along with the crowd at the Royal Montreal Golf Club.
You can check the video of Weir and the crowd singing Happy Birthday to Michelle in the video below:
This video of Michelle, who was celebrating her birthday, was also reposted by the PGA Tour. Michelle Money is a TV personality who also owns a women's golf brand named Fore All. She met Mike Weir in 2016, after which the couple announced their engagement in early 2023 and got married the same year.
Overall, Weir would be happy because his International Team scripted a great comeback on Friday. After being swept clean in Round 1, many wondered how would the Canadian player's team cope in Round 2. However, the team did exceedingly well, which earned them praise.
Mike Weir's International Team was welcomed by a roaring crowd ahead of Round 3
After the International Team faced a major setback in Round 1, Friday's performance at the Royal Montreal Golf Club reminded everyone that Mike Weir's team is still in contention.
Ahead of the third round at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec, Canada, Weir and his men were welcomed by a roaring crowd. As the team made their way to the course, they were cheered heavily, and the golfer was also seen soaking in the love from the crowd.

This welcome the International Team received from the crowd had a lot to do with how they played on Friday. The International Team dominated the proceedings in the first match in which Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im beat Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.
Another reason the victory was historic is because the Friday round was a foursome session, and the International Team had not won a foursome session at the Presidents Cup since 2005. It will be interesting to see if the Mike Weir-led team can keep up the form in Round 3.
