WATCH: Nelly Korda shows off her impressive swing, explains why she loves a 7-wood
Nelly Korda explained her reasons for using 7-wood by showcasing her impressive golf shots. Trottie Golf recently shared a short clip of Korda, in which the World No. 1 showed off her amazing shots and opened up about her golf clubs.
Styled in black shorts and a grey full-sleeve t-shirt, Nelly Korda initially played a few shots. She later revealed that she prefers to use a 7-wood on par-5s. Explaining the reason for her golf gear choices, Korda said:
"I am gonna go with a 7-wood. It's a par 5, and there's a lot of undulation on the green. There are a couple of bunkers around the green, and I love this club because, one, it's a club that I use in the majority on my par-5s that are a little bit longer. But it comes in high and soft, that you know, in top golf courses, where the greens get firm fast. It's just such a great club to have in your bag."
Notably, Korda had a phenomenal season on the LPGA Tour in 2024. She won six tournaments this season and recorded some amazing finishes.
Korda started her campaign this season at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, where she finished T16. She then went on to win five back-to-back LPGA Tour events, including the LPGA Drive On Championship, Fir Hills Seri Park Championship, Ford Championship, T-Mobile Match Play, and the Chevron Championship. She was tied for seventh at the Cognizant Classic and won another LPGA Tour event at the Mizuho Americas Open.
Last, Korda competed at the Kroger Queen City Championship and tied for fifth place. She was slated to play in the LPGA Tour's events in Asia but withdrew from them due to an injury. She did not play at this week's BMW Ladies Championship and will miss the Maybank Championship next week.
Speaking of her withdrawal, Korda said, via SkySports:
"Unfortunately, I've had to withdraw from the LPGA events in Korea and Malaysia due to a minor neck injury I sustained while practising. I'm disappointed to miss these events and am especially sorry to my fans who were looking forward to seeing me play."
Nelly Korda has played in 14 events this season and made the cut in 11.
