Paige Spiranac posted a video on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, November 12, offering several tips for new golfers. The tips covered a wide range of topics, from what to wear to what clubs to buy when you start playing golf.
Spiranac began her list of tips for new players by recommending where to start practicing:
"Find a good public driving range. Not only are the golf balls less expensive, but the atmosphere is really chill and relaxed." [0:06 - 0:14]
Spiranac's second piece of advice was related to the equipment a player just starting out in golf should have:
"You don't need to have a full set of clubs when you're first starting out. You can buy second hand or you can buy a couple of clubs to start out. I recommend getting a wedge, a 7-iron, a driver and a putter. That's all you need when you're first starting out." [0:29 - 0:44]
Paige Spiranac's third tip was about the need to get good golf lessons:
"I recommend getting lessons from a golf instructor...when you have a golf pro guiding you through the basics, it really sets your foundation and makes the journey so much easier. Spiranac advised against overthinking golf attire. However, she emphasized the importance of checking each course's website to be informed about their specific dress code.
Spiranac's final recommendation to new golfers was not to worry about making mistakes in front of other players. She assured them that everyone on the course is concerned about their own game and not focused on criticizing others.
Paige Spiranac's golf lessons
For the past two months, Paige Spiranac has dedicated much of her work on YouTube to offering advice to those just starting out in golf. To that end, she has created a video series called "The Beginner's Guide to Starting Golf," which now includes 12 videos.
In the series, Spiranac covers topics such as what to wear on the golf course, how to make the most of your time on the practice range, how to learn to work the different types of grass and hazards, golf terminology you need to know, and other similar topics.
The 31-year-old's YouTube channel has over 434,000 subscribers. Meanwhile, "The Beginner's Guide to Starting Golf" series has already garnered more than 830,000 views.
Spiranac has also taken some of this content to her other social media accounts. She has more than 4 million followers on Instagram and more than a million followers on X.
