WATCH: Ruoning Yin's ball lands in the strangest location, forces her to take relief at the Maybank Championship

On Sunday, October 27, during the final round of the Maybank Championship, Ruoning Yin found herself in a bizarre situation that forced her to take relief. However, it didn't bother her much, as she sank a birdie on that hole.

Yin entered the final round with a 54-hole lead alongside Jeeno Thitikul and Haeran Ryu at 16-under. She continued her strong performance in the final round, birdieing two of the first three holes to move to 18-under.

On the par-4 6th hole, her tee shot landed in a golf cart. As a result, she received relief, and she made good use of it to pick up another birdie.

Ruoning Yin claims the 2024 Maybank Championship

Ruoning Yin claimed the 2024 Maybank Championship, beating Jeeno Thitikul by a one-stroke margin. She shot a bogey-free 7-under 65, picking up seven birdies to finish at 23-under.

This was Yin's third win of the season and her second in her last three starts. Two weeks ago, she won the Buick LPGA Shanghai in her home country. Earlier this year, she had won the Dow Championship alongside her partner, Atthaya Thitikul, who finished as the runner-up in Kuala Lumpur.

Thitikul, who was leading after 54 holes, slipped to second after shooting 6-under 66 in the final round. The Thai star made seven birdies, but a bogey on the par-4 sixth hole affected her result.

Ryu finished third after shooting 5-under 67. She sank six birdies but bogeyed the 17th hole
