WATCH: Ryder Cup captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald have a magical 'Pebble Beach' experience in NY
Keegan Bradley will be the new captain of the US team at Bethpage Black, where the 2025 Ryder Cup will take place. Bradley replaced Zach Johnson after the American squad lost under Johnson's captaincy in 2023 by 16.5-11.5 to the European team.
However, Luke Donald, who was the captain of the European team in 2023, will continue his captaincy in 2025. Recently, both Ryder Cup captains participated in a magic show in NY, and the video was uploaded by the Ryder Cup’s official X page.
The mentalist asked Bradley to hold out his hands and bring his right hand over his left hand in a way to create a cup. He then told Luke Donald to imagine himself on a golf course before switching back to Bradley and asking him to feel if there was a golf ball in between his palms.
After that, he asked Donald to reveal the golf course he imagined and as Bradley unfolded his hands, he had a golf ball with ‘Pebble Beach’ carved in it. The Ryder Cup also wrote a caption with the video, that read:
“No way 🤯 @OzTheMentalist blows the minds of our Ryder Cup Captains.”
Keegan Bradley will serve as captain of the US team for the first time. Previously, he played on the US Ryder Cup team in 2012 and 2014.
Keegan Bradley talks about Phil Mickelson's role in the Ryder Cup
Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald joined a press conference this week to reflect on the 2025 Ryder Cup. There, Bradley shed some light on the fact that Phil Mickelson guided Bradley in the 2014 Ryder Cup ( via Golf.com).
“I really, early in my career, I really took for granted Phil’s leadership that he gave me…You know, I was playing with one of the best players to ever touch a golf club. In alternate-shot, he just said, ‘We’re going to play your ball,” Keegan Bradley said.
He continued, “What Phil did for me is he created a relaxed atmosphere, and he told me, ‘Don’t worry about putting it four or five feet by. I’ll make them coming back.’ Little stuff like that, really, it helped me…He mentored me before the [2014 Ryder Cup]. Took me to dinner. Talked to me nonstop throughout the year about the pressures and what’s going to come and I really learned a lot, and it hasn’t been until now that I’ve really realized what an incredible thing it was that he did for me.”
Keegan Bradley was asked to share his opinion on Mickelson being the vice-captain of the 2025 Ryder Cup US team, to which he said that the latter might not be interested. Phil Mickelson plays for LIV Golf and has been committed to the league since 2022.
