WATCH: Tiger Woods excites fans during the Open Championship practice round

No matter how challenging the last few outings have been for Tiger Woods, he still generates a lot of excitement whenever he plays a tournament. His four appearances in 2024 have been mostly disappointing, but fans at the Open Championship could not care less about that.

Woods is at Royal Troon to practice this week ahead of the Open Championship. The legendary golfer took some swings with fans nearby, sending a really nice shot into the distance. It got fans quite excited, with one continuously praising the shot.

He then followed it up with an even better shot, blasting a tee that curved perfectly to the left and landed on the green. It was about three feet from the cup, leaving him with a more than makeable putt. Fans erupted in applause at that one.

He then continued to impress fans by lobbing a shot towards the green. It bounced once a few feet in front of the hole and landed nicely a few feet behind. Once again, he had a very makeable putt.

FInally, Woods found himself in one of the many bunkers present at the Open Championship. His beautiful wedge shot fell perfectly out of the bunker and onto the green for yet another nice approach. Check out the 48-year-old's from his practice round below:

Woods has struggled with health and fitness of late. The full tournaments, with very little action in between, have proven to be difficult. But as his practice round shows, he still has the talent.

Woods made the cut at the Masters before finishing dead last after a dismal weekend. He missed the cut entirely at the PGA Championship and US Open. Despite that, people are still coming to Majors even just to watch Tiger Woods take practice swings a few days before the actual event.

Tiger Woods talked about the Open Championship and his struggles

After he missed the cut at the US Open, Tiger Woods was plain in admitting that he cannot win a tournament if he's not making the cut. He said that means he cannot win tournaments, his sole goal in any of them, without getting past the second round.

Via ESPN, he said at the time:

"I thought I played well enough to be up there in contention. It just didn't work out."

Nevertheless, Woods has another chance this weekend. It will be his final chance. He isn't planning to play any other PGA Tour events after this weekend:

"I've only got one more tournament this season. Even if I win the British Open, I don't think I'll be in the [FedEx Cup] playoffs. Just one more event and then I'll come back whenever I come back."

Woods may play unofficial events, like the PNC Championship or Hero World Challenge, as he has done in the past.
