WATCH: Tom Kim’s 59 ft birdie putt to lead on home soil at Genesis Championship

Tom Kim took the lead playing on his home soil after making an impressive birdie during the third round of the 2024 Genesis Championship. The South Korean golfer teed it up at this week's DP World Tour event, which started with its first round on Thursday, October 24.

He made an impressive 59-foot birdie on the 14th hole during the third round on Saturday, October 26. He took the lead in the game after shooting a round of 67, jumping seven spots on the leaderboard.

The DP World Tour shared a video of Tom Kim taking a phenomenal shot. He carded it from a considerable distance, and as the ball went straight into the hole, Kim celebrated with a victory fist. The golfer then raised his club towards the fans to celebrate.

Tom Kim has been having an impressive game at the Genesis Championship so far. He started his outing with a round of 68 before carding another round of 69. He began the tournament with a bogey on the first day, followed by two back-to-back birdies on the next two holes.

He shot four birdies and two bogeys and then added three birdies on the back nine for 4-under. He shot a second round of three birdies for 3-under before carding 67 in the third round to take the lead.

Kim has had a decent season playing on the PGA Tour in 2024. He has so far competed in 24 events and made the cut in 18 of them.

Kim started the campaign at the Sentry, where he finished in the T45 position. He was the runner-up at the Travelers Championship and also recorded two finishes in the top 10.

After taking the lead after three rounds of the Genesis Championship ( a DP World Tour event), Tom Kim is in contention to win the first event of the year on his home soil. The event will have its finale on Sunday, October 27, at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon, South Korea.
