"We’ve figured it all out": Brooks Koepka on his relationship with Bryson DeChambeau

Brooks Koepka has a very complex relationship with Bryson DeChambeau. From their viral moment of an eye roll to hugging each other at the Ryder Cup, the golfers made headlines for two years because of their uneven relationship.

Koepka and DeChambeau got into hot water after Brooks complained about the delay at the 2019 Dessert Classic. Later that week, a video went viral on social media showing Bryson taking a lot of time to hit the ball. Even other golfers complained about it.

Although it's been four years since the incident, for some reason people still enjoy talking about them.

Koepka recently had a live chat with fans on Instagram where he talked about his uncool-to-cool relationship with a fellow LIV Golf player.

He said:

"Believe it or not, we squashed it. We’re good. I actually talk to him quite frequently because of what’s going on here at LIV. Pretty much on an every-other-day basis. So we’ve got a good open line of communication. We’ve figured it all out, and we’re good.”

Brooks Koepka also opened up about the Ryder Cup incident. He said:

"Yeah, this one makes me laugh. We were just horsing around, messing around. We were in the European team room. We were just having fun. We actually went out in Paris later that night so if there was a scuffle it wasn’t too bad. Just horsing around, it’s what guys do. But we still play a lot of golf when we’re back home hanging out with each other. So no issue, and he’d say the same thing."

Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau are on good terms now. They are both playing at the LIV Golf event, which is underway in Mexico. The tournament is scheduled to conclude with the final round on Sunday, February 26.

Brooks Koepka x Bryson DeChambeau: The beef explained

The flare of tension between Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka began in January 2019. Koepka critically slammed DeChambeau's slow performance in one of his interviews. He said:

"I just don't understand how it takes a minute and 20 seconds, a minute and 15 to hit a golf ball; it's not that hard. It's always between two clubs. There's a miss short, there's a miss long. It really drives me nuts especially when it's a long hitter because you know you've got two other guys or at least one guy that's hitting before you, so you can do all your calculations, you should have your numbers."

Luckily, the duo cleared the air at the Northern Trust and decided to keep everything away from the public. However, in 2020 the tensions again ignited. A video of the Golf Channel went viral online when DeChambeu walked behind Brooks during his interview.

Nonetheless, things seemingly got back on track after the two played at the USA's Ryder Cup and hugged each other in the winner's conference. Sadly, things again heated when the golfers got into a head-on competition at the Wynn in Las Vegas in November 2021. Fast forward to 2023, and they are on good terms with each other.
