"We've been very spoiled in that sense"- Jon Rahm praises talented field at LIV Golf as he reminisces Bryson DeChambeau's 58 last year
Last year, Bryson DeChambeau shot 58 in the third round of the LIV Golf Greenbrier and it became a record round in his career. His total score stood at 23 under 187 and he had 68 and 61 in the first two rounds. However, this year, DeChambeau didn't go below the 60s in the first two rounds with scores of 68 and 65 in the first and second rounds, respectively.
Speaking during a press conference after the second round of LIV Golf Greenbrier, Jon Rahm recalled DeChambeau's feat of 58 last year and also talked about how Bryson DeChambeau had a perfect start last year to achieve 58 but Rahm wouldn't expect such scores every year. He said (via "TenGolf" on YouTube)
“It's possible. But that's some serious golf. That is some serious golf around here. And you need the start he had. I mean 7 under through seven then you can almost let yourself think a little bit. But I wouldn't be expecting somebody to shoot in the 50s every single competitive year we have, which it's almost happened the last 3 4 years. But I wouldn't be expecting it as often as we've been having it the last few years,” Jon Rahm said (4:29-5:00)
He continued, “I think we've been very spoiled in that sense. And I mean with that said I hope that someone is me if I were to do it tomorrow it would be very nice do it in bright and fashion and get a W with around in the 50s.” (5:00-5:10)
Jon Rahm is sitting atop the leaderboard with 14-under and Bryson DeChambeau’s score is 7 strokes behind him at 7 under.
