WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play groups for 2023 edition of the tournament announced

The 2023 edition of the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play is set to begin on March 22 at the prestigious Austin Country Club. Interestingly, eight out of nine top players in the Official World Golf Rankings are set to play in the prestigious tournament.

Groups for the 2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play were announced on Monday. The PGA Tour's official Instagram page shared a post mentioning all the players with their OWGR. The Tour's page wrote in their caption:

The defending champion of WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, Scottie Scheffler, will kick off the competition and will be placed in Group 1. Tom Kim, Alex Noren, and Davis Riley are placed in the same group and will have to fight for the top spot.

Group 2 is headed by Jon Rahm, a Spanish professional golfer who stayed at the number one position in the World Amateur Golf Rankings for a record 60 straight weeks. Billy Horschel, Keith Mitchell, and former Players Champion Rickie Fowler are grouped together with Rahm.

The legendary Rory McIlroy, who also won the Fed-Ex cup in 2022, is the top name in Group 3. Apart from him, Keegan Bradley, Denny McCarthy, and Scott Stallings are also placed in the same group.

Jordan Speith, who leads Group-12, will be looking for redemption after his disappointing finish at Tinpa last week. However, his WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play group seems to be one of the toughest. Former Champion Golfer of the Year Shane Lowry, Taylor Montgomery, and Mackenzie Hughes will look to give a great fight.
