What happened to Collin Morikawa at 2023 WM Phoenix Open?

Collin Morikawa missed the cut at the 2023 WM Phoenix Open. The second day of the tournament was delayed due to bad weather, and shockingly, a couple of big names missed the cut.

The cut came in at an even-par 142, and unfortunately, Morikawa headed home ahead of the final.

The 26-year-old bogeyed the opening hole of the first round before making two birdies and another three bogeys on the 12th, 14th, and 18th holes. His final score for the day was 73.

Morikawa finished the second day of the Phoenix Open with a score of three after making a bogey on the fourth hole, a birdie on the tenth, two additional bogeys, and one birdie. Unfortunately, his score was not enough to make the cut.

Along with him, Shane Lowry, Patrick Catlay, Taylor Montgomery, and Tommy Fleetwood also missed the cut.

The WM Phoenix Open is scheduled to conclude with a finale on Sunday, February 12. Sixty-five golfers made the cut on day 2 to move ahead with the third round, which wrapped up on Saturday.

After the third round, defending champion Scottie Scheffler topped the leaderboard with a round of 68 to finish under 13.

Jon Rahm is also making his way up to clinch the trophy and a million dollar check. He is just two shots behind the lead, securing the the second position with Nick Taylor.

A couple of big names are ruling the leaderboard of the 2023 WM Phoenix Open after the third round.

Max Homa, who won the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, closed at T25 on Saturday alongside Chasson Hadley, Hideki Matsuyama, and Jason Dufner.

The current world No.1, Rory McIlroy has secured the 28th position alongside Billy Horschel, James Hahn, Tom Kim, Matt Kuchar, Sahith Theegala, Adam Long, Taylor Pandrith, and Webb Simpson.
