Hana Wakimoto carded five birdies and one bogey in the second round of the TOTO Japan Classic to remain in first place. On Thursday, she had nine birdies and no bogeys to take the lead.

Commenting on her performance, the TOTO Japan Classic leader said (via ASAP Sports):

"Recently my ball striking has been really good, so I have confident with my shots and tucked pin today... This golf course is not too narrow, and there are still like tricky holes at couple holes. But my tee shot has been really good today."

Wakimoto began her professional career in 2018 and has played almost exclusively in Japan. She has just one win, the 2022 Hanasaka Ladies Yanmar Golf Tournament on the Step Up Tour, the development circuit of Japan's premier tour.

At the highest level in her home country, Wakimoto has played in 166 tournaments with 14 top-10 finishes.
