Xander Schauffele began the final round of The Open Championship one stroke behind 54-hole leader Billy Horschel. However, Schauffele shot his best round of the tournament to overtake everyone and win the Claret Jug.
Schauffele shot a bogey-free 65 with six birdies, including four on the back nine, which is considered one of the toughest nines in golf. Schauffele's round was only the fourth 65 of the 2024 Open Championship (Daniel Brown, Sam Burns, Thriston Lawrence).
Xander Schauffele entered the 2024 season having never won a major championship. His victory at Royal Troon makes him a two-time major winner, as he won the PGA Championship eight weeks ago.
Calum Scott won the 2024 Open Championship low amateur award, finishing T43 with a score of 8-over. Defending champion Brian Harman finished in a tie for 60th place at 11 over.
