The final round of the TOUR Championship was one of many ups and downs for Scottie Scheffler. However, the World No. 1 was able to pull out something extra to maintain a comfortable lead over his nearest rival.
Scheffler carded one eagle, five birdies and three bogeys on Sunday at East Lake. He closed with par on the final four holes.
It is Scottie Scheffler's seventh PGA Tour victory in 2024. His victories include one major (The Masters), the Players Championship, four signature events (Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, Memorial Tournament, Travelers Championship) and the TOUR Championship.
In addition, he won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the unofficial Hero World Challenge title just days before the official start of the 2024 season.
Collin Morikawa also ended the 2024 season in style. While he finished four shots behind Scheffler in the final event of the season, he came second in gross (262) as well to the winner's 264.
The big surprise of the day came from Russell Henley, who carded an eagle, eight birdies and one bogey for a 9-under 62 to move up nine places and finish in a share of T4. Robert MacIntyre also shot a final round 64 to move up nine places to tie for 17th.
Another player to shoot a final round 64 at the event was Sahith Theegala, who finished in a share of third place despite a two-stroke penalty stroke on day three. Xander Schauffele finished T4, while Rory McIlroy finished T9.
The TOUR Championship is the official end of the PGA Tour season. However, the circuit will quickly resume its activities as the fall season, dubbed "FedEx Cup Fall" since last year, begins in less than two weeks.
