Who won the Masters 2023? Winner and prize money explored

The Masters came and went. After a weekend filled with excellent golf, shocking performances, and even a severe weather issue, golf's most famous tournament persevered. The competition was excellent, with a few golfers putting together incredible performances.

Now that the dust has settled, a winner has been named and several players ended up with major paydays.

Jon Rahm turned in a wondrous performance en route to his first win at the Masters. He takes home the green jacket after coming back on the final day.

It was a shockingly poor showing from Rory McIlroy. One of the early betting favorites, he did not even make the cut. McIlroy was +5 and the cut was +3, so he missed out on the final day.

Tiger Woods, however, did not miss the cut. He made it and set a record in doing so. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish the tournament due to injury. He had to withdraw from what might end up being his final Masters appearance.

Kevin Na and Will Zalatoris also had to withdraw from the competition due to injuries, but they withdrew on the first day. Zalatoris left the competition before even taking a swing.

Jon Rahm's win was a bit of a surprise. The Spaniard is playing excellent golf of late, but he didn't start well. He four-putted the first hole amidst an abysmal start. He quickly rebounded to finish tied for first on the first day and kept the momentum going.

Phil Mickelson turned back the clock in the final round. Hovering around even, the lefty shot -7 on the final round to make a run at the title. He came up just short, though.

It was a disappointing final day for Brooks Koepka, who may have been feeling the pressure. He lost his lead and ended up a few strokes behind Rahm after the middle of the final day.
