Who won the PGA Tour Player of the Year title in 2023? Points, prize and more explored

As another PGA Tour season nears its conclusion, the debate over the Player of the Year has intensified. So far, Scottie Scheffler leads the race, with Xander Schauffele giving him a tough fight.

Last season, Scheffler won the Player of the Year award for his incredible performance throughout the season. For this achievement, he was awarded the Jack Nicklaus Trophy.

With this win, Scheffler became the first player since Tiger Woods to win this award in back-to-back years. Notably, Tiger Woods won the award for three consecutive seasons from 2005 to 2007.

Scheffler received 38 percent of the votes, beating out Wyndham Clark, Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, and Jon Rahm. During the 2022–23 season, he won twice and didn't miss a cut in 23 appearances. Overall, he recorded 17 top tens, including 13 top five, both being the highest by any player in a single season since 2005.

Last year, Scottie Scheffler also broke the record for the most money earned in a single season, earning over $21 million and surpassing his record of $14,046,910 set in 2021-22. Notably, he has already broken the record again this season.

Before Scheffler, only three players had won the Jack Nicklaus Award in consecutive seasons. If he wins the award in 2024 as well, he will join Tiger Woods in winning it for three straight years. Woods has won it a record 11 times in his career.
