Who won the US Open? A look at the champion and top performers
For the last four days, the golf world has had its eyes on Pinehurst for the US Open. The third Major tournament on the schedule was exciting and had plenty of good performances, but only one champion could be crowned this weekend. After a thrilling final round, here's who won and how the other top players performed at the event:

Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy engaged in a battle for the ages. Through four holes, McIlroy had closed the gap to one and eventually overtook DeChambeau. The two would go back and forth, neither ever leading by more than one after that point. McIlroy bogeyed the 18th, and DeChambeau eventually made par to emerge victorious.
In his maiden participation in the tournament, Ludvig Aberg produced yet another outstanding performance, becoming the first player to share the lead at the end of the opening round.
While it didn't end in a win or a top-20 finish, several golfers enjoyed solid weekends:
- Max Greyserman
- Min Woo Lee
- Brian Harman
- Brooks Koepka
- Tom Kim
It was a surprisingly disappointing outing for Scottie Scheffler. The world number one and pre-tournament betting favorite struggled all weekend, making the cut despite finishing his second round outside the projected cut line.
Defending champion Wyndham Clark was unable to repeat the previous year's feat. He made the cut but struggled in the fourth round. He was seven over in the fourth round and finished +12 after only being at the five over cut line.
Tiger Woods also struggled and missed the cut. The golfer was hoping to put together a better performance than he had at the PGA Championship in June, but instead shot seven over and missed out by two strokes.
Those who did not make the cut with Woods included:
- Robert MacIntyre
- Viktor Hovland
- Max Homa
- Rickie Fowler
- Will Zalatoris
- Jason Day
- Dustin Johnson
- Justin Thomas
- Phil Mickelson
Prior to the tournament, two-time Major winner Jon Rahm withdrew with a foot injury. He was the only player to back out.
