Why was the first round of the Wyndham Championship suspended on Friday evening? Next start time explored

The first round of the 2024 Wyndham Championship was again suspended on Friday, August 9, due to darkness. Initially scheduled for Thursday, August 8, the round was postponed to Friday due to inclement weather.

Play began on Friday but was once again suspended because of darkness. While more than half of the players have completed their first round, some are yet to finish.

The first round of the Wyndham Championship will resume on Saturday, August 10, at 7 a.m. ET. The remaining players will complete 18 holes before proceeding to the second round. The second round is set to begin at 7:40 a.m. ET, with players teeing off on both the first and tenth holes.

After the unfinished first round, Beau Hossler currently leads the Wyndham Championship with an impressive score of 10-under 60. The American started strong with four consecutive birdies, followed by an eagle on the fifth hole and a birdie on the eighth. On the back nine, Hossler added four more birdies, along with two bogeys, to finish at 10-under 60.

For the second round, Troy Merritt will take the first shot on the first tee at 7:40 a.m. ET in a group with Ryan Moore and Joseph Bramlett, while Martin Trainer, Patton Kizzire, and Zac Blair will tee off on the tenth.
