Why did golf reporter Dan Rapaport walk out of Barstool Sports?
Recently, golf reporter Dan Rapaport left Barstool Sports and the brand's ‘Fore Play’ podcast. The news went viral on the podcast’s episode 'Goodbye Dan Rapaport'. In the same podcast, Rapaport disclosed that the decision came forth due to contract expiry with the brand by the end of the past PGA season.
After the announcement, on 5 September, Fore Play tweeted a snippet of the episode and wrote that it was Rapaport’s last episode and that he would "forge his own path in golf".
“Dan announces that today’s episode will be his last as he goes on to try and forge his own path in golf,” Fore Play podcast tweeted.
Later, Rapaport retweeted Fore Play’s post and wrote a caption recollecting his two years of journey at the company.
“I'm beyond grateful for these last 2 years. What a life experience, man. Running around the world with an incredible group of guys on a bunch of golf adventures. I will always be indebted to Riggs, Frankie and Trent for the opportunity and platform they provided me…I'm an even bigger fan now,” wrote Rapaport.
The golf reporter joined Barstool Sports in 2022 after his stints at Golf Digest and Sports Illustrated. He also did the on-course commentary at the 152nd Open with BBC Radio 5 Live.
Collin Morikawa joined a rapid-fire round with Dan Rapaport
On 31 March, Dan Rapaport joined for a speed question-answer session with Collin Morikawa to get some insights into the golfer's life. Later, he uploaded the video of the session on X. One of the many questions thrown at the golfer was if he broke his diet and had a cheat meal.
Morikawa answered that he wasn't the guy who abided by the nutrition guidelines all the time. Rather, he took cheat meals whenever he wanted.
“I eat cheat meals all the time. I'm not really a nutrition guy, so... In-N-Out. Any time I go on the road and I go back home, In-N-Out,” Morikawa responded.
Another question was to know his stance on whether LIV golfers should be allowed back to the PGA. In answer, Morikawa replied:
“I mean at some point, maybe. I'm sure there's like consequences here and there, but I think we just all want to see everyone play together and yeah.”
The rapid-fire covered other aspects like his preference between hotels and Airbnb and the golfer chose the former since he wasn't comfortable sleeping in others' houses. Morikawa also shared how he could conclude his career with 10 majors.
As of now, he boasts two major titles and the last event he played was the Tour Championship.
