Women’s golf at 2024 Olympics: Schedule, top players, prize and more explored

The 2024 Olympics men's golf event concluded on Sunday, August 4, with Scottie Scheffler rallying from behind to clinch the gold medal. Now we will head to the women's event, which will take place this week.

The 2024 Olympics women's golf event will take place from Wednesday, August 7 to Saturday, August 10 at Le Golf National. Here's the schedule for the event:

  • Wednesday, August 7: 9 am local time
  • Thursday, August 8: 9 am local time
  • Friday, August 9: 9 am local time
  • Saturday, August 10: 9 am local time.

Field and Top Players

Similar to the men's event, the 2024 Olympics women's golf event will also have a 60-player field. The field was decided based on the Olympic Golf Rankings (OGR), with the top 15 ranked players earning automatic spots, restricted to a maximum of four players per country. Beyond that, only two players per country who did not already have two or more players in the top 15 were selected.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda is the defending gold medalist and is once again a favorite to win at Le Golf National. She has already won six times on the LPGA Tour this season. Other top names include Lilia Vu, Jin Young Ko, Hannah Green, Minjee Lee, and Celine Boutier.

Lydia Ko, a two-time medalist, has been struggling with her performance recently and hasn't won since January. Aditi Ashok of India will be competing in her third straight Olympics. Last time, she finished fourth after falling just short of the bronze medal.

Prize money

Similar to the men's event, there will not be any prize money offered to the players in the women's golf event at the 2024 Olympics. However, they might receive monetary incentives from their respective countries if they win a medal.
