“Not surprising, she has played awful all year”: Fans react to Lexi Thompson’s shocking shot at the Solheim Cup
Lexi Thompson is at the Finca Cortesin in Andalusia, Spain, where she is representing the United States Solheim Cup team. Howver, her first day at the mega event must have been equally satisfying and awful.
After winning the morning foursome match, alongside Megan Khang, she was back in the evening Fourball match. While playing on the par 5 hole, she needed to hit an eagle to receive half points for her team, but what happened next shook all experts and fans.
The NUCLR GOLF shared the video on X, formerly Twitter, where Lexi Thompsom was seen hitting a chip shot from a side-hill. But her shot hits the front of her golf club and veers down close to her caddie and the playing partner Lilia Vu.
Fans were disappointed with the veteran's performance at the Fourball match at the Solheim Cup. One of them wrote:
"Not surprising...she has played awful all year."
However, Thompson did find some support, a fan praised her efforts on day one at Finca Cortesin and added that she now had to sleep with that shot on her bed.
Another fan felt that she had some "golf demons" which affected her short game and added that the golfer the chip shot at par 5 was not a difficult one but nerves got her.
