PGA Tour joins the Leadership Circle of the National Council on Problem Gambling

The PGA Tour announced today that it has joined the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) Leadership Circle.

The league also announced that it has renewed its Platinum membership with the national nonprofit organization that serves as the national advocate for reducing gambling-related harm.

Through Leadership Circle investment, organizations that support the NCPG ensure the viability of overall operations, sustainability, future growth, and innovation.

In addition, the PGA TOUR will launch a cross-platform marketing campaign in March in support of NCPG's Problem Gambling Awareness Month.

It will bring elevated messaging about Problem Gambling education and resources across a variety of branded and other media channels.

Scott Warfield, VP of Gaming at the PGA Tour talked about this historic new development.

"Properly preparing and educating our fanbase on responsible gambling will always be a key focal point of our sports betting strategy at the PGA TOUR. The National Council on Problem Gambling is committed to those same causes, and we are proud to join their Leadership Circle as we continue to promote the core values of responsible wagering."

The PGA Tour has joined several other leading sports and betting organizations in the Leadership Circle. The list includes prominent names such as PGA Tour Official Betting Operators, FanDuel and DraftKings.

NCPG Executive Director Keith Whyte talked about this:

"We are grateful for the support of the PGA TOUR and look forward to continued collaboration as we work to provide golf fans across the country with responsible gambling education.
"The extensive reach of the PGA TOUR will increase public awareness of problem gambling and the availability of prevention, treatment & recovery services during Problem Gambling Awareness Month and throughout the year."

The PGA Tour has recently taken several progressive and industry-leading decisions regarding sports betting. This development is the latest to be added to the list.

Following the Supreme Court's decision in 2018 to overturn the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA), the league implemented strong integrity programmes in collaboration with Genius Sports.

PASPA was designed in 1992 and aimed to stop sports betting throughout the United States. With this landmark decision by SC, the decision on the sports betting rested in the hands of each state.

The league recently announced a second partner, U.S. Integrity, to assist in the ongoing monitoring of betting activity surrounding its competitions.

This new development is certainly a game changer for the tour that has been trying to build more popularity around its events and increase the engagement of the audience.
