Rahm joins Rory in standout Masters grouping, Dustin Johnson to play with Bubba

Four-time major champion Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm will play together in one of the standout groupings for rounds one and two of the Masters at Augusta.

McIlroy, who is seeking to claim the only major to have so far eluded him this week, and Spaniard Rahm, already up to 12th in the world rankings following a hugely promising start to his professional career, have been grouped with Japan's Hideto Tanihara.

That trio will tee off at 1:41pm local time (EDT) on Thursday afternoon, shortly before world number one Dustin Johnson begins his bid for glory in the final group of the day, alongside two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson and Jimmy Walker, the winner of last year's US PGA Championship.

Jordan Spieth is out at 10:34am in round one, together with two Europeans in Matt Fitzpatrick and Martin Kaymer, while defending champion Danny Willett will be partnered by Matt Kuchar and amateur Curtis Luck.

Jason Day will play with Justin Rose and Brandt Snedeker, and another notable group sees Open champion Henrik Stenson joined by 2009 winner Angel Cabrera and Tyrrell Hatton.

Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama - two players tipped by many to fare well - will go off alongside Russell Knox.
