Ranking the top 5 longest drives of the 2024 PGA Tour season so far ft. Xander Schauffele
The 2024 PGA Tour had a lot of drives, but only a few can claim to be the longest drives of the entire season. Driving is just one part of the game, but it's the first thing players usually do.
On some par-fours and par-fives, players bring out the club with which they're most capable of hitting the furthest. That resulted in some unfathomably long distances being covered with one swing. Check out the five longest below:
Longest drives on the PGA Tour in 2024
5) Jordan Spieth
Jordan Spieth didn't have the year he wanted, but he still did something very few other golfers did. Spieth has the fifth-longest drive of the season on the Tour at 380 yards.
Spieth stepped up to the tee and calmly blasted the ball into the sky. The shot tracer showed a pretty much perfectly straight shot that traveled 179 miles per hour and rolled 380 yards away from the tee.
4) Alejandro Tosti
Alejandro Tosti didn't have a ton of success in the 2024 season, but he managed to find himself on this list with some of the best golfers in the sport. The Argentinian blasted his drive off the tee and watched it travel an impressive 393 yards.
It just caught the fairway and bounced a few times before rolling to a stop. If it had been a few feet to the right, it might not have traveled nearly that far.
3) Scottie Scheffler
Unsurprisingly, Scottie Scheffler is on this list. The 28-year-old golfer did a lot of things very well during his seven-win historic season on the Tour. That includes some driving, of which he had one of the longest drives of the year: 410 yards.
Scheffler's signature quirky footwork was on display, but it worked out well as he struck the ball purely and watched it fly a very long way.
2) Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy has long been an incredible driver, and his 417-yard shot this year more than proved that. The strength with which he struck the ball was good, but his spin on the ball was even better.
This helped it to curve back in towards the green and continue rolling a lot further than it otherwise might have. It didn't get much bounce, but it rolled a good distance for the second-longest drive of the year.
1) Xander Schauffele
No one drove the ball further than Xander Schauffele, whose 428-yard strike would be one of the longest drives of most seasons. The golfer won two Majors this year thanks in part to excellent driving.
In this case, Schauffele's swing had just enough curve to the right but reached an apex of 68 degrees, perfectly landing to bounce and roll for another 22 seconds.
