Scott, Day to represent Australia at Golf World Cup
Melbourne, Oct 5 (IANS) Australia’s Adam Scott and Jason Day have confirmed their participation on home soil in the World Cup of Golf at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club from Nov 21-24.
Scott and Day will form part of an elite field of 60 players from around the world. The event boasts a $8 million total purse and returns to an individual stroke-play competition for $7 million with a concurrent team competition (adding the total scores of the two-men teams) for $1 million. In addition, it will provide Official World Golf Ranking points.
World No.2 and current Masters champion Scott said: “I am looking forward to playing the World Cup and representing Australia at Royal Melbourne with Jason Day. It will be a great week for Australian golf where we will be playing a World Cup in Australia for the first time in 25 years.”
Compatriot Day had similar views.
“I’m looking forward to getting back down to play at Royal Melbourne. As I grew to love golf, I loved watching Adam Scott play. It’s fun to play the World Cup with a guy that I’ve known since I was 15. It is an honour to represent Australia. Hopefully Scotty and I can get a victory,” said Day.
