US PGA Championship Social Diary: Thomas reigns supreme in Charlotte

US PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas

There was a first-time winner at Quail Hollow as Justin Thomas claimed the US PGA Championship.

Thomas joined an illustrious group of players after triumphing by two strokes in a thrilling finale to the season's last major on Sunday.

The 24-year-old American – who had a round of 59 on the PGA Tour as well as a record-breaking 63 at the U.S. Open this year – produced plenty of magic during his 68 to close out the tournament at eight under.

World number 14 Thomas finished clear of Francesco Molinari, Patrick Reed and Louis Oosthuizen to capture the Wanamaker Trophy.

Overnight leader Kevin Kisner was unable to maintain his charge, dropping to four under in Charlotte.

World number one Dustin Johnson finished eight shots adrift, one ahead of Rory McIlroy and two clear of Jordan Spieth.
