Video: Woods explains elbow injury
Tiger Woods spoke to the media on Wednesday (26th June) ahead of this week’s AT&T National.
Tiger Woods: Q: Tiger, with the elbow this week, how much of it is actually a physical hindrance for you and how much of it is just time to rest up for the British (Open Championship):
“It’s both, it’s both. I pushed it pretty good at the (U.S.) Open to play it and to play through it. Made it worse by hitting the ball out of the rough and eventually got to a point where I wasn’t able to play here so listened to my docs and not touching a club. We’re treating it and eventually I’ll start the strengthening process of it and start hitting the balls and get it up to speed for the British.”
“Yeah, obviously it is disappointing not to play in my own event. This tournament means so much to us at the foundation and what we’re able to do. We’ve raised 15 million (US) dollars here for the DC area, we have two learning centres here, we have 25 Earl Woods Scholars that are from here so to us it’s a very important week and, as I said, it’s disappointing not to to be able to play. On top of that I am, or was, defending and it looks like the golf course is in fantastic shape. It’s green. It’s lush. It’s thick. Temperature is up. It’s going to present a hell of a test for the guys and I’ll be watching.”
