WATCH: Rory McIlroy uses cart path to make stunning par

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy.

When you find yourself in trouble on the golf course, it pays to be able to rescue par by any means.

And Rory McIlroy did just that at the US PGA Championship on Friday when, at one over for his round on the par-five 10th hole, the Northern Irishman wound up in a tricky spot alongside a cart path after two shots.

But rather than dwell on the poor shot that went before, McIlroy spotted an opportunity to use the path to his advantage.

McIlroy sent his ball bouncing up the tree-lined path, judging it beautifully as it came to rest just off the green and clear of a beckoning bunker.

Two putts from there and McIlroy completed quite the escape with no damage done.
