"Having the best season of my life" - Jon Rahm talks about his win
Jon Rahm regained the No. 1 title with this win. He dethroned last week's leader Scottie Scheffler.
Scheffler successfully defended his title at the WM Phoenix Open and regained the World No. 1 title. He surpassed Rory McIlroy. However, after the 2023 Genesis Invitational, Jon Rahm returned to World No. 1 with a total point average of 9.5152.
Scottie is now in second position with a total of 9.0050, while Rory McIlroy has slipped down to third position.
Speaking about his performance, Jon Rahm said:
“I don’t need a ranking to validate anything. Having the best season of my life, and hopefully, I can keep it going.”
Max Homa gave him some tough competition on Sunday, and Rahm appreciated him in his interview. He said:
"That was a tough week and a tough Sunday. Max battled out there and Patrick kind of gave us a scare and I’m just glad I could come through at the end."
Rahm added:
“Beating Seve, I know he didn’t play full time on the PGA Tour and I know five of those wins are majors, but still, to reach that milestone of double-digit wins is pretty incredible. And to do it at a golf course with this legacy, this history and hosted by the man himself, Tiger Woods, it’s a true honour.”
Rahm took home $3.6 million from his win at the Riviera Golf Course.
