Where is the 2024 PGA University Championship being played? Venue explored
The 2024 PGA University Championship is the 22nd edition of the tournament. It'll take place at the Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in North Carolina from November 11 to 13. The venue of the tournament has restaurants and boutique shops with a vintage touch of Southern Pines and Pinehurst Village.
The Inn of Mid Pines, which is for accommodation of the visitors, was built in 1921 in the Georgian style. Along with the main hotel, Mid Pines has private villas with a mini-kitchen system. The other amenities of lodging include wireless internet, audio-visual services, a lounge, a restaurant area, golf course accessibility, and a game room.
The suite rooms will have a king-size bed and bath. The parlor rooms connect two king-size rooms with golf course views. The Innview rooms provide a historical experience and will include a king-size bed with a garden view.
Mid Pines has a conference center, terrace eating facility, dining area, Julius Boros Boardroom, and outdoor tent facility. The lounge offers snacking options like burgers, sandwiches, and more. There are also golf packages available for recreation at Mid Pines.
The PGA of America president reflects on his thoughts about the PGA University Championship
The PGA University Championship will have a welcome dinner on 11 November. Following that, on November 12 and 13, there'll be a stroke play competition over 36 holes. The PGA of America president John Lindert shared his thoughts about the upcoming tournament.
“The PGA University Championship is an excellent showcase of the dedication and skill of our future PGA of America Golf Professionals. Mid Pines is a classic gem among North Carolina’s spectacular golf courses, having previously hosted many national competitions including the 2023 PGA Team Golf Championship and 2002 USGA Senior Women’s Amateur. We look forward to a great event highlighting the exceptional sportsmanship and competitive spirit that drive the next generation of golf industry stars,” Lindert said.
Sam Houston State PGA Golf Management Program Director Dr. Rich Ballinger said:
“We are excited to return and defend our title and see friends and create new relationships with students from the other PGA universities. We are all very thankful to the PGA of America for supporting this event. It is a great way to showcase our university programs and bring more awareness to them.”
Sam Houston State University captured the title last year with a total score of 3 over 291 at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Philadelphia, Mississippi. The winner of the 2024 PGA University Championship will get the Jones Cup.
The enrolled universities in the PGA University Championship will get an offer to register themselves at the PGA Golf Management University Program.
