Will Charlie Woods accompany Tiger Woods at Genesis Invitational 2023?
Tiger Woods gave some good news to the fans last Friday. The former World No. 1 will participate in this week's Genesis Invitational, his first official PGA tournament in two years, outside the majors. The excitement is evident considering the all-time legend is returning to the Tour.
There is further curiosity among fans if Tiger Woods' son Charlie Woods will accompany his father at the Riviera Golf Course. So far, there has been no confirmation regarding this, and given it's an official PGA tournament, Woods is not expected to use the cart either.
Everyone sees Charlie Woods as the "heir" of his father's golf legacy and wants to know about his golf progress. Junior Woods is gradually stepping his foot into the golf career and participates in junior-level golf events regularly.
Charlie Woods has participated in four Junior PGA Tour South Florida tournaments and four Hurricane Junior Golf Tour tournaments. In the South Florida events, he secured 22nd, 40th, 23rd, and 28th positions, whereas, in the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, he finished T2, 1s, 10th, and 1st.
When were Tiger and Charlie last seen together on the golf course?
The father-son duo participated together in the 2022 PNC Championship a couple of months back. Unlike the 2021 PNC Championship where the pair set the stage on fire with some impressive shot-making and a runner-up finish, this year's performance was not up to the mark as the Tiger-Charlie duo ended the tournament tied for 8th place.
Tiger Woods' past performances at the Genesis Invitational
Tiger Woods is an 82-time winner on the PGA Tour, including 15 majors, but the golf legend has never won a Genesis Invitational in his career. His best results came in 1998 and 1999 when he ended at T-2 and 2nd respectively.
2020 was the last year he participated at the Riveria Golf Club, finishing 68th. His four-day scores that year were 69-73-76-77, respectively, finishing at 11-over 295. The result was shocking as he came after good form at the Farmers Insurance Open and a win at the Zozo Championship the previous month.
Before the Genesis Invitational 2020, only the 2015 Memorial was the last time he finished last among those who missed the cuts.
