American professional golfer Xander Schauffele finally won the 2024 PGA Championship, his 11th professional and first major win after finishing in the top-10 in all majors. He also won the 2017 Tour Championship over Justin Thomas and the 2018 WGC-HSBC Champions, defeating Tony Finau in a playoff. Schauffele tried to defend his latter title the following year but was defeated by Rory McIlroy's birdie in a playoff.

Before winning the 2024 PGA Championship, Schauffele had won the co-sanctioned Genesis Scottish Open in 2022, defeating Kurt Kitayama by a single stroke with a score of 273, under 7. The former major victory ended his two-year winless streak.

Xander Schauffele's Caddie

Austin Kaiser is the caddie for Xander Schauffele as of July 2024.

Xander Schauffele and Austin Kaiser have been friends for more than ten years. Kaiser has only served as a caddie for the past six years but was a respectable golfer for the San Diego State Aztecs, the same collegiate team on which they both competed.

Austin made the cut in 12 of 13 tournaments during his junior year, finished fourth on the team, and had four top-20 finishes. He also participated in his first game in 2015 and assisted Schauffele in obtaining his PGA Tour card. However, Kaiser has had a different dream since he was a child. He had no interest in playing golf or working as a caddie. Kaiser always dreamed of becoming a police officer after graduating from college.

Kaiser even enrolled in the police academy and had just about finished all of the required schooling when Xander called to say, “Hey, I need a caddie, and I think you would be great. We’re buds, and you know my game more than almost anybody.” So Austin decided to give it a shot.

The prize for the 2024 PGA Championship was $18.5 million, and Schauffele took home the winner's share of $3.33 million. However, as caddies receive 10% of their players' wins, Kaiser received $330,000. A caddie typically receives a predetermined proportion of his player's winnings; this can be 10% for a win, 5–7% for a top-5 or top-10 finish, and so on. Caddies are also paid a weekly base wage in addition to a share of prize money, all of which is agreed upon by the player.
