Bengals sign former German WR sensation Bohringer
Moritz Bohringer is back in the NFL.
The former German Football League star has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. Bohringer has been added to the Bengals' roster as part of the NFL's International Player Pathway program, which lets all four AFC North teams carry an extra player through the end of training camp.
A wide receiver, Bohringer wowed observers at Florida Atlantic's pro day in 2016 with elite WR numbers for a tight-end-sized player.
Bohringer lobbied the Minnesota Vikings for a chance, and they spent the sixth-round pick on him, then signed him to a four-year deal worth $2.49million. He became one of the big stories of the preseason.
But Bohringer struggled in camp and did not make the roster. After spending a year on the Vikings' practice squad, the team waived him in September 2017.
Bohringer, who says he had never seen an American football game until age 17 when he watched some Adrian Peterson highlights on YouTube, is still only 24.
