Chris Johnson, New York Jets agree to two-year, $8 million deal
We’ve all patiently waited for movement on free agent Chris Johnson, from the Jets or another team, and at 4:19pm ET, the New York Jets officially announced the addition. The move and two-year deal were first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Johnson, who has played six of his first seasons in the league with the Titans, adds to an already decent backfield—including Chris Ivory (833 yes, 3 TDs in ’13) and Bilal Powell (697 yds, 1 TD). Last year’s signing, RB Mike Goodson, seems to be an ‘odd man out,’ given his legal trouble and style of play which is very similar to Johnson’s.
Update: Pro Football Talk is reporting that the deal is for $8 million, with an additional $1 million available via yardage-based incentives.
