The New York Jets are now down to four quarterbacks.

New York announced on Thursday they had released quarterback Bryce Petty.

Petty was selected by New York in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft after a standout career at Baylor. He has thrown four touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 10 career appearances, and he started seven career games for New York over two seasons, posting a 1-6 record.

The Jets selected USC quarterback Sam Darnold with the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. They also re-signed veteran Josh McCown in March and acquired former Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater days later.

Christian Hackenberg, a second-round pick out of Penn State in 2016, is also currently on New York's roster. He has yet to appear in an NFL game.

The Jets have not made the playoffs since 2010 as they finished the last two regular seasons with a 5-11 record.
