A day after using their first pick in the 2018 NFL Draft to address their offensive line by taking Isaiah Wynn, the New England Patriots have made another move to protect Tom Brady.

New England acquired tackle Trent Brown from the 49ers on Friday in a deal that also sees the Patriots acquire a fifth-round pick (143rd overall) in this year's draft while sending San Francisco a third-rounder (95th overall).

Brown was a seventh-round pick by San Francisco in 2015 and has started at right tackle in each of the last two seasons.

At 6'8" and 355 pounds, he is an imposing force, but the 49ers selected Notre Dame tackle Mike McGlinchey with the ninth overall pick on Thursday, with this move opening up a spot for the rookie.

New England lost left tackle Nate Solder to the New York Giants in free agency and right tackle Marcus Cannon has battled injury in recent years.

With Brown now in the fold along with Wynn, who the Patriots drafted 23rd overall, the Patriots have some much-needed options up front as they bid to keep the 40-year-old Brady upright.
