Shurmur ends Beckham Jr trade speculation
Rumoured trade candidate Odell Beckham Jr will "absolutely" be part of the New York Giants' set-up in 2018, according to head coach Pat Shurmur.
Throughout most of the off-season, Beckham's place on the Giants' roster had seemed in doubt.
He was linked with the Rams before Los Angeles scooped up Brandin Cooks from the New England Patriots, and even the Cleveland Browns had been mentioned as a possible destination.
However, Shurmur all but ended the speculation surrounding Beckham's place on the team on Tuesday by saying the receiver would "absolutely" be with the Giants in 2018.
The Giants possess the second overall pick in this year's NFL Draft, which starts on Thursday.
New York could trade out of the spot as other teams seek one of the top-ranked quarterbacks, but it might make sense to stay put and select Penn State running back Saquon Barkley to further bolster the offense.
Beckham, who is recovering from an ankle injury has apparently been courting recently released former Cowboys star Dez Bryant.
The Giants just released wide receiver Brandon Marshall, possibly clearing roster space for Bryant.
New York struggled last season, finishing 3-13, but a revamped offense and coaching staff could lead to a quick turnaround.
