Sidney Rice in New Jersey to meet with Jets
Chris Johnson don’t do it for you, eh? Well, John Idzik and company think rest is for the weary, and are bringing free agent wide receiver Sidney Rice in for a look. Once again, it was ESPN’s Adam Schefter with the confirmation.
Rice most recently played for the Seattle Seahawks. In 2013, Rice participated in just eight games, and recorded 231 yards on 15 receptions. He did, however, score three TDs in that span.
Sidney Rice would be a nice complementary piece to the Jets offense, but his string of injures—throughout his time in the NFL—could prevent him from making a significant impact. Rice has averaged 11.6 games played in a season, during his seven year career (just two full seasons).
Regardless, a healthy Sidney Rice adds to the dynamic offense that the Jets are trying to build under Idzik—with Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson, Eric Decker, and now this possibility.
