Texans draft Watson after another trade with Browns

After ending the Brock Osweiler experiment, the Houston Texans drafted quarterback Deshaun Watson after another trade with the Cleveland Browns.

The Texans sent next year's second-round pick to Cleveland for the Browns to take Osweiler off their hands after his first year turned sour following an offseason switch from the Denver Broncos.

And Houston turned to the Browns again to get to a position to take Watson, sending Cleveland next year's first-round selection to move from pick 25 to 12.

A two-time Heisman Trophy finalist, Watson is the most experienced quarterback in the draft class and has the most impressive CV.

He led Clemson to two National Championship games, overcoming Alabama with a superb performance in the 2016 title matchup.

Watson threw for 4,104 yards with 35 touchdowns and 13 interceptions as a sophomore and then tossed for 4,593 yards with 41 scores and 17 interceptions last year.

Now his attention will turn to a likely quarterback competition with Texans incumbent Tom Savage. Should Watson win the starting job, Houston will be looking for him to help them make the jump from playoff contenders to a team capable of challenging for Super Bowl glory.
