5 GTA missions that don't make any sense

The Grand Theft Auto series is notorious for having ridiculous things that don't make any sense, and several GTA missions exhibit this. Grand Theft Auto protagonists have been doing all sorts of absurd things that don't make sense in relation to the storyline.

Whether it's infiltrating top-secret government bases or causing a massacre for no reason, there are several bizarre GTA missions that had players scratching their heads. Some of these seem to contradict the narrative and even the personalities of the in-game characters.

With all this in mind, we've got 5 GTA missions from all over the series that make zero sense.

Note: The article is subjective and solely reflects the writer's opinion.

GTA missions that make no sense

1) Black Project

Black Project is one part of two GTA missions in San Andreas that seem like they're out of a spy flick. These are provided by The Truth, which is all the more absurd. Why would a hippie want CJ to break into a high-security government facility to discover a top-secret project, and how does he even know about this stuff?

Nevertheless, the mission features extensive stealth segments, where you need to take out the guards at Area 69 before breaking in. You end up discovering and using a futuristic jetpack, which would make you believe GTA San Andreas has a sci-fi storyline and not that of a crime thriller.

2) Deconstruction

Deconstruction is often regarded as one of the most shocking GTA missions, as CJ shows a side to him that doesn't line up with who he is in the rest of the storyline. When CJ's sister Kendl Johnson complains to him about some construction workers catcalling her, he goes out to take revenge. Now, while this seems quite justifiable, the actions he does next aren't.

After wiping out most of the construction workers, Carl "CJ" Johnson goes on to bury the foreman alive. Not only is this unnecessarily brutal and out of character for Carl, but it also makes no sense to punish the foreman for what some random construction worker at his site did. CJ's dialogue during the cutscene also indicates that he's planning to take over the site, but this never happens.

3) Masks

Grand Theft Auto 5 has significantly fewer missions (69) than most of its predecessors, such as San Andreas (100) and even Grand Theft Auto 4 (88). Despite this, at least one of the GTA missions in Grand Theft Auto V is barely a mission. During Masks, all you need to do is buy three masks for the Blitz Pay heist, and that's it.

While this could've been categorized as a setup mission, Rockstar could've added some more content instead of simply making you buy some masks. This could be Rockstar's attempt at ensuring that the number of missions in the game remains 69, which would perfectly align with the developers' crude sense of humor.

4) Messing with the Man

Messing with the Man in Grand Theft Auto Vice City seems like a poor attempt at making you play a Rampage mission. However, it's not counted as a Rampage side mission, and it doesn't even make sense in terms of the storyline. Tommy is a psychopathic character who often goes into a fit of rage and can be extremely violent. However, engaging in a terrorist act just to gain the trust of the city's biker gang makes zero sense.

5) Have a Heart

Have a Heart is another one of those GTA missions that don't make any sense in terms of the storyline. Niko Bellic is often humanized throughout Grand Theft Auto 4 by showing that he has both remorse and a sense of morality. He regrets his past as a human trafficker and he saw some war crimes during the Yugoslav War that he can't live off.

That said, his actions during certain missions show a ruthless side to him that is contradictory to how the story portrays him. The name of the mission almost seems like something players would say after playing through it. After Elizabeta kills Manny and his cameraman in cold blood, Niko takes their corpses to an organ trafficker. He even makes a cruel joke at the end, making light of the situation.
