5 reasons why GTA 6 should have a co-op mode

GTA 6 should have a co-op mode since it would increase the game's replayability value, add something new to do in multiplayer, and even provide a unique way to incorporate alternate endings. It would fit in perfectly with having two protagonists — Jason and Lucia. It also wouldn't be the first time this feature has been implemented in the Grand Theft Auto series. However, a proper way to enjoy the story mode in co-op hasn't been tried before.

As such, there are many reasons why Grand Theft Auto 6 should have a co-op game mode, and some of these are mentioned in this article.

Some major reasons why GTA 6 should have a co-op mode

1) Will increase replayability

A major reason why GTA 6 should have a co-op mode is that it would add to replayability. You would have a decent enough reason to try out the story mode at least twice. Fans expect the next Grand Theft Auto game to be the best one ever, and as such, it needs to include features that have never been seen in the franchise before, with co-op being one such feature. This would also justify the GTA 6 price if it turns out to be as high as rumored.

2) Something else to do in multiplayer

GTA Online has plenty of game modes that have been introduced throughout the years, but one thing it's missing sorely is a co-op game mode for the single-player storyline. This would add another way to experience the game altogether.

This is why GTA 6 should have a co-op mode, as it would allow players to do something else other than everything that's already been added to multiplayer.

3) Fits perfectly with two protagonists

There are going to be two main characters in Grand Theft Auto 6, as revealed by the 2022 leaks, and later on by Rockstar themselves. One of them was revealed as Lucia in the trailer, while the other, who is apparently called Jason, hasn't had his name confirmed yet. Now, since there are two protagonists in the next game, GTA 6 should have a co-op mode where two players can choose to play as the main characters and experience the story together.

4) Has been used in the past

The idea of co-op gameplay isn't completely new to the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Rockstar already tried it back in San Andreas, but it was exclusive to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of the game. One player would have to choose CJ whereas the other could choose from several pedestrian models. However, there was no way to play through the story missions. You could only try out Rampage or Free Roam.

GTA 6 should have a co-op mode that improves upon this feature by allowing players to engage in different game modes together. While the main storyline should be featured in co-op, the rest of the modes can be included in GTA 6 Online.

5) Alternate endings

The Grand Theft Auto titles have had multiple endings ever since Grand Theft Auto 4 was released. Grand Theft Auto 5, which had both multiple endings as well as multiple protagonists, incorporated these two elements together. In two of the three available endings in GTA 5, one of the three playable main characters ends up dead. GTA 6 should have a co-op mode where the two protagonists get to fight to choose the ending, much like A Way Out.

This would add a fun and competitive twist to the game, as co-op usually entails two players working with each other instead of against each other.
