5 reasons why GTA 6 won't be exclusive to PS5 Pro on launch
GTA 6 is unlikely to be a PS5 Pro exclusive, and there are many reasons for it. The PS5 Pro, a potential upgrade to the present PlayStation 5, has not even been confirmed by Sony yet. That said, most gamers believe it's going to be released soon, and there has been some speculation over Grand Theft Auto 6 being launched on it. Some even believe that it might be exclusive to this upcoming console.
However, Rockstar hasn't even listed the PS5 Pro as one of the supported platforms, while the presently available PS5 as well as Xbox Series X|S have been mentioned. There are some other reasons as well, which have been listed in this article.

Why GTA 6 won't be an exclusive PS5 Pro release
1) Rockstar hasn't listed the console
Rockstar hasn't mentioned the PlayStation 5 Pro as a supported platform for GTA 6. The Grand Theft Auto developer only announced two consoles that their upcoming game will be launching on — the Sony PlayStation 5 and the Microsoft Xbox Series X|S. This was mentioned on the official page for the game, released soon after the trailer came out. The description reads:
"Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet. Coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S."
Many players have asked whether Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PC, and there have been rumors about the game launching on the PS5 Pro. However, launching exclusively on this platform makes no sense.
2) Sony hasn't confirmed the console yet
Most of what fans know about the Sony PS5 Pro is based on leaks and unofficial sources. It should be noted that this is true about GTA 6 as well, since the game had a massive leak in 2022 which revealed a lot of details about it. However, since Sony hasn't confirmed this rumored console, there's no way that Rockstar would casually mention it.
Until this highly-anticipated console gets its official reveal, the Grand Theft Auto devs won't be able to talk about it, even if they plan to release their game on it.
3) No release date for the console
Since Sony hasn't even officially confirmed the PS5 Pro, the release date remains unconfirmed as well, whereas Grand Theft Auto 6 has been confirmed to be coming out in Fall 2025. The Take-Two CEO recently reassured that this reveal window is accurate, and there won't be any delays.
As such, there is a possibility that the upcoming console might come out after Grand Theft Auto VI, or around the same time, but it is unlikely that this is going to happen beforehand. In that case, the game being exclusive on this console makes little sense.
4) A new console will limit sales
If GTA 6 was to be made exclusive to the PS5 Pro, the game's sales would suffer quite a bit. This is because this supposed console, as mentioned before, hasn't even been confirmed yet. It's going to take a while before players move to a new console, and this will drastically affect sales. The number of players who will be able to play the game will be extremely low.
5) Launching on a single console doesn't make sense
In a recent interview, the Take-Two CEO even clarified that GTA 6 won't be a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass. This only goes to support the idea that Rockstar won't limit the game's sales by making it exclusive to a single console. Most of their recent games have been released on more than one console on launch day, including Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5, and even Red Dead Redemption 2.
