5 reasons to play GTA Vice City in 2024

GTA Vice City is not only one of the most beloved Grand Theft Auto titles of all time but video games in general. It launched in October 2002, just a year after Grand Theft Auto 3 amazed the gaming industry, and managed to improve upon that greatly. While not as packed with features as some modern releases, this Rockstar Games title still possesses the ability to entertain players.

For those interested, here are five reasons to play Grand Theft Auto Vice City in 2024.

Preparation for possible Easter Eggs and other reasons to play GTA Vice City in 2024

1) It is one of the best Grand Theft Auto games

GTA Vice City ranks pretty high in the list of the best Grand Theft Auto games. The title features a great cast of characters, one of them being its protagonist, Tommy Vercetti, in a deeply enjoyable storyline set in 1986. It perfectly captures the vibe of that iconic decade with the architecture, clothing, vintage cars, and soundtrack.

The gameplay mechanics are simple, but fun, and, in combination with all the previously mentioned aspects, deliver a deeply enjoyable experience.

2) Grand Theft Auto 6 is still some time away

Grand Theft Auto Online will soon celebrate its 11th anniversary. Many have been playing it since its introduction back in 2013, but some now must feel bored. Rockstar Games has continued adding fresh content to it via regular DLCs, but the gameplay is largely the same.

And since the GTA 6 release date is set for Fall 2025, which is still some time away, Grand Theft Auto Vice City emerges as one of the best options to keep yourself entertained with something different. In fact, it is the best time for newer fans who haven't experienced older titles to give it a try.

3) Preparation for possible Easter Eggs

Rockstar Games loves including Easter Eggs in its titles and with Grand Theft Auto 6 heading back to Vice City, there might be some nods to the 2002 release. However, to enjoy any such possible Easter Eggs in the sequel, one should have experienced GTA Vice City first-hand.

Therefore, you should not only play it in 2024 while waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6 but also to prepare for any callbacks or Easter Eggs that may pop up.

4) Witnessing the series' growth

GTA Vice City was a great game for its time, but the series has come a long way now. Grand Theft Auto 4, 5, and Online are some of the best games out there, and the next installment seems to be even more detailed.

But to truly appreciate just how much Grand Theft Auto has progressed over the years, we must take a good look at the past. And one of the best ways to do that in 2024 is playing games like GTA Vice City.

5) Understanding Rockstar's caliber

Rockstar Games is among the biggest names in the gaming industry and has been for a while. This should give you an idea of the developer's caliber, but playing its older titles, like Grand Theft Auto Vice City, can help you understand it better.

Indeed, this title isn't as expansive as newer installments, but there are some gameplay features GTA Vice City did better than GTA 5. Diverse weapon variety and better paramedic AI are two examples. However, playing the game today would give you an even greater perspective of what Rockstar was able to achieve despite the technological limitations of the early 2000s.

Grand Theft Auto Vice City's remaster (The Definitive Edition) is also available, but it is better to play the original version.
