5 things to avoid buying in GTA Online this week (August 2-7, 2024)

There are several things you should avoid buying in GTA Online this week if you want to spend your money more efficiently. Since Grand Theft Auto Online just got a new weekly update, you might be thinking about spending your in-game money on buying a lot of new stuff. However, not all items are worth purchasing, and many of them may cause you to regret your decision later on.

With that in mind, we've compiled a list of things you should avoid buying in GTA Online this week. It should be noted that most of these are vehicles, like the BF Raptor and the Pfister Growler, as they're the most common purchases players make.

Note: The article is subjective and solely reflects the writer's opinion.

List of things to avoid buying in GTA Online this week

1) BF Raptor

The BF Raptor is one of the most bizarre vehicles you can own in Grand Theft Auto Online. It's a roadster trike based on the Campagna T-Rex, although some design cues may resemble the Tanom Motors Invader. As expected, having two wheels up front while there's only one in the back doesn't make it the most stable trike. To make this worse, it's an RWD vehicle, and it has heavy understeer.

The latest GTA Online weekly update has made this vehicle purchasable at Simeon's Premium Deluxe Motorsport, but this is a car you should avoid buying in GTA Online this week as there are much better options.

2) Western Annihilator

The Annihilator is a decent attack helicopter in Grand Theft Auto Online, and there's even a 40% discount on it right now. However, there are far better options available, such as the Akula, the Weaponized Conada, the Valkyrie, and more. The Annihilator is kind of obsolete when compared to these helicopters in GTA Online, as it doesn't have enough weaponry, and it also looks much simpler. So, unless you're a collector who just wants all attack choppers, this is one thing you should avoid buying in GTA Online this week.

3) Benefactor Streiter

The Benefactor Streiter is another unusual-looking vehicle on this list, which is something you'll either love or hate. While the body looks quite normal, the wheels look off, like they were made for some other vehicle. This is because the Streiter is an off-road station wagon, which is an odd choice for a car in Grand Theft Auto Online.

This is something that off-road fans are unlikely to fall in love with, and station wagon fans also have better choices, like the Stratum or the Clique Wagon. The Streiter doesn't have a remarkable performance either. There's only going to be a niche fanbase for this car, and for that reason, it's something you should avoid buying in GTA Online this week.

4) Dinka Postlude

The Dinka Postlude is a nice car, being based on the first-gen Honda Prelude, and there's even a 30% discount on it with the latest update. However, it would've been better if Rockstar added the second or third-gen Postlude to Grand Theft Auto Online. It would fit in as a nice tuner and would be something that JDM fans would appreciate.

The first-gen Prelude is nice, but it's not as famous as the later variants, and it gets a bit generic. This is why the Postlude is a car you should avoid buying in GTA Online this week unless you're a big Dinka fan or a collector. You're better off buying a Benefactor Vorschlaghammer instead.

5) The Railgun

The Railgun is a futuristic weapon that gives you an added advantage against vehicles, although it's equally efficient against players if your aim is good. However, this weapon is quite expensive, with a base price of $730,000. The Railgun is currently available at the GTA Online Gun Van, but you're better off buying something else, like the Stun Gun, which has a 50% discount. You should buy the Railgun when it comes back with a better offer, as the 10% discount isn't attractive enough.
